Top Five Mistakes People Make When Choosing a Home Healthcare Provider

Choosing a home healthcare provider is a difficult decision. Do not make it harder on yourself by failing to do some simple things that can mean the difference between a great and a not-so-great homecare provider. Learn from these notorious mistakes people have made in the past to ensure that you make the right choice of the best provider for your needs.

  1. Failure to use a provider who has been licensed, insured, and bonded through the State of Florida and licensing authorities. The first thing you should know about any home healthcare provider in any state is their licensure status. Remember, they MUST be licensed within the state they are doing business. Our industry is heavily regulated. Protect yourself and make sure the company you are working with knows the rules. Choose a company that is bonded, and has Worker’s Compensation Insurance and Liability Insurance. QHS is fully licensed and bonded within the state of Florid and does business in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee Counties.
  2. Failure to get references for all the companies they are considering. Please know that in home healthcare, clients like to rave about the company they use and their caregivers. Make sure the companies you are looking to work with are able to furnish you with verifiable references. If possible, get references that had similar situations as yours so you can get the most accurate picture possible for your particular circumstances. QHS has readily available references with whom you can speak to get a feel for the value you are getting.
  3. Failure to interview potential companies. Use a personal interview with the company you are considering to provide your care to determine the level of service you should expect during actual care. Also, see if you can interview potential nurses. Making sure you get the right fit for you should be your greatest objective. QHS staff and caregivers are readily available for you to interview and welcome all of your questions.
  4. Choosing a homecare provider based on rate and not track record. Remember, in life, you get what you pay for. We receive new clients all the time who tell us horror stories about providers they first chose to go with on the basis of cost. Remember, this is the life and well being of yourself or someone you love. Do not treat it as a commodity. QHS does provide its services at very competitive rates; however, we also provide tremendous value and quality with staff and caregivers who operate with the highest levels of integrity. See what our past clients have to say about us.
  5. Failure to request a trial of the services to solidify they’ve made the right decision. Do not be afraid to ask a provider you are considering if you can try out their services before you enter into a contract with them. Any provider who is confident that you will be satisfied should be willing to put their services to the test with a trial, right? At QHS, most of our clients who come to us do not need to try our services because of our strong track record of high quality. For those who are not too familiar with us, we do offer a trial program to help them know they’ve made the right decision.
